The History is Not About Us

As the Bible begins its account of the history of Jacob in Genesis 37:1-2, an amazing thing happens. Instead of coming into the foreground of the biblical narrative, Jacob fades into the shadows, and the focal point shifts to Joseph, Judah and to the rest of Jacob’s children. If this isn’t a poignant statement of how heaven views our history, then what is? It’s time for us to amend our thinking that our convergence and fulfilment is about us. Instead, our lenses need to be readjusted to realise that it’s about our descendants – both natural and spiritual.
