On 24 March 2018, the Singapore Church was rocked by the shocking news of Ps. Rick Seaward’s sudden passing. He had met with a fatal car accident while he was in Brazil for a regional missions conference. For those of you who might not know him, Ps. Rick was the founder of Victory Family Centre (then known as Calvary Charismatic Centre) in 1977. Under his leadership, Victory Family Centre was raised to become a missions-sending force, which to date, has planted over 10,000 churches in over 90 nations.
Ps. Seaward was renowned for his revolutionary strategies in planting churches. He was a spiritual father to many, and dedicated his life to raising disciples and leaders who would have the same heart and vision for missions. While we take heart that he has entered into his glorious inheritance in heaven, we mourn the significant loss of a spiritual statesman in this nation. Our hearts and prayers go out to the Seawards and the VFC family during this time of grief.
This is a Holy Week for Christians all over the world, a time where we remember what our Lord went through for us on the Cross. Did you know that the week leading up to Resurrection Sunday 2,000 years ago was an intense one? One that was marked with betrayal, humiliation, accusation, and ultimately, death – from the intense prayer of our Lord in Gethsemane, to the final moments of despair and desertion in Calvary.
The earth shook and the heavens wept. All seemed bleak as the only hope for humanity lay in a cold, lifeless tomb. But the good news is that our Lord and Saviour Jesus rose from the grave and conquered hell and death!
We rejoice in the glorious hope we have in Jesus Christ and the power of His resurrection that gives us life eternal and victory over every sin, sickness and every seemingly hopeless situation we face. As 1 Peter 1:3 declares, “According to His great mercy, He has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”
This weekend is going to be a great victory celebration as we witness many coming to know the Risen Saviour at our services. We encourage you to invite your friends and family for our special mini Easter production titled, “The Room”. They will be blessed!
